Jake Peavy allowed a season-high seven runs in a five-inning start Tuesday night as the Mariners beat the Red Sox 8-2 at Safeco Field.
Boston's offense continues to sputter with only eight hits including two each from Brock Holt (pictured), Mike Napoli, and Jackie Bradley, Jr.; Holt had a double and a home run.
Peavy, who is winless in his last eleven starts dating back to early May, fell behind early with Seattle scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning and adding another in the second.
In perhaps a preview of what's to come shortly, Felix Doubront pitched two innings of relief. He struck out one and allowed no walks or hits. The only base runner was as the result of a Stephen Drew error.
