Welcome to the 1st installment of Red Sox trade rumors, a weekly feature in which I'll recap the latest trade rumors related to our beloved Sox. This isn't a "who I think the Sox should target," just a roundup of players that could be targeted in July.

Andre Either, LA Dodgers: This is not a new thing - it's common knowledge that the Red Sox have been linked with him in the past few seasons, fueled by the overload in the LA Dodgers outfield and his friendship with Sox 2nd baseman Dustin Pedroia, dating back to their college days, among other things. He's not irreplaceable by any stretch of the Dodger's fan imagination, because they have Matt Kemp (who's injured right now), Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig, not to mention Dodger prospect Joc Pederson tearing it up in their farm system with a line of .340/.448/.629 right now. There's just the small matter of his contract ($53.5 mil guaranteed from 2015-17) and his inability to hit lefties that could lower his value.

Jeff Samardzija, Chicago Cubs: One place the Red Sox could beef up at the deadline is the rotation. Right now, Clay Buccholz is on the DL, and so is Felix Doubront. Both guys have had their struggles this season, and the Red Sox could look to add another starter if that persists. While a trade may be in the cards for the Sox, the young guns, Rubby de la Rosa especially, have shown promise, so it's unkown what the Sox level of interest is, although there is some - it's definitely an area of concern at present. There are a number of teams interested as well, including the Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants.
