Rookie catcher Christian Vazquez had three hits and three RBI's as the Red Sox trounced the Astros 8-3 in Houston on Friday night. The win was Boston's third in a row.

Vazquez, the highly touted prospect whose development in the Red Sox farm system led to the team deciding not to offer Jarrod Saltalamacchia the multi-year deal he was seeking, recorded his first major league hit in the top of the third inning. He scored on Brock Holt's triple to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. Dustin Pedroia's RBI double scored Holt to make it 2-0.

An RBI double by Vazquez in the top of the fourth made it 3-0 Boston. He doubled home two more runs in the top of the sixth. David Ortiz completed the scoring two batters later with a three-RBI double of his own.

John Lackey improved to 10-6 with the win. He went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three.
