According to MLB Trade Rumors and the Red Sox official Twitter page, the Red Sox have shipped infielders Kelly Johnson and Michael Almanzar to the Baltimore Orioles for Ivan DeJesus and Jemile Weeks.

This move doesn't have much bearing on the roster right now - Johnson was acquired at the trade deadline from the Evil Empire, but didn't get much playing time in a Sox uniform. He played in 10 games as a Red Sox player, hitting at a .160 clip during his time here.

One possible explanation could be a temporary fix for Dustin Pedroia, who was clocked during tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Rays - both Weeks and DeJesus are 2nd baseman. Pedroia left the game in the 2nd after getting hit in the head on a tag play, according to ESPN. Whether Pedey will have to miss an extended period of time is unknown, but this could be a move to replace him if he does miss time. This is just speculation, though. Pedey's a tough guy and he could only miss one or two games.

At least, most of Red Sox Nation hopes that's the case.
