On an evening when the Red Sox desperately needed a good laugh, they at least enjoyed a laugher of a win over the Seattle Mariners, 15-1, at Fenway Park.

Just hours after learning from their manager that he has been diagnosed with Stage 1 lymphoma, Boston was relentless in a 21-hit attack including three each by Pablo Sandoval, Travis Shaw (pictured), and Jackie Bradley, Jr.

Joe Kelly was the beneficiary of the offensive onslaught, going six innings to earn his fifth win. He gave up a first-inning home run to Kyle Seager, but allowed only three hits beyond that. He walked two and struck out six.

The Red Sox slammed three home runs, one by Rusney Castillo and a pair by Shaw.
