The Red Sox closed out their eleven-game road trip with a 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at the Trop.
By most accounts, a 7-4 trip is a positive, unless you consider that the last two games were one-run losses in which the offense squandered numerous opportunities.
The teams traded runs in the sixth inning with Boston scoring on a sacrifice fly by Mookie Betts and Tampa Bay countering with a run-scoring single by Brad Miller.
Mikie Mahtook's RBI double in the seventh snapped the tie.
Drew Pomeranz (pictured) turned in another strong outing pitching two batters into the seventh inning. He allowed two runs in seven hits and one walk while striking out a career-high eleven.
Dustin Pedroia led Boston with three hits.
