With a game-time temperature of 39 degrees, Chris Sale (pictured) showed what all the fuss was about when the Red Sox acquired him this past off-season, throwing seven shutout innings in his Boston debut.

Sale scattered three hits and walked just one while striking out seven.

His Pittsburgh counterpart Jameson Taillon was equally impressive, holding the Red Sox scoreless on five hits and three walks over his seven frames.

Leon had three hits to pace the offense; Jackie Bradley Jr. had two hits for the Red Sox.

Joe Kelly got the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings.
