Price (pictured) allowed a first-inning RBI double to Nicholas Castellanos but settled in to shut out Detroit through the remainder of his five innings of work. He struck out six and walked two while improving his record to 7-2.

Christian Vazquez put Boston ahead 2-1 with his 14th home run of the year in the top of the second inning. The Sox added three more in the fifth with Xander Bogaerts doubling home a pair and Andrew Benintendi bringing him around with a single.

J.D. Martinez and Marco Hernandez each had two hits to lead the Red Sox.

With the Yankees and Rays splitting their four-game weekend series, Boston picked up two games on each heading into the All-Star break.
