Red Sox Charge Into 2nd Place

For the Red Sox, April was an unmitigated disaster.

The more cynical among us were wondering if the team could stay ahead of the hapless Orioles in the American League East.

With Saturday night's 4-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians, Boston moved ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays into second place in the AL East.

June has been an amazing month so far with an 18-4 record so far, including seven straight series wins.

Jaren Duran had four hits out of the leadoff spot tonight and Alex Verdugo (pictured) slammed a 3-run homer in the top of the sixth to give the Red Sox a 3-2 lead.

And that bullpen....

Underperforming for weeks, and with no real closer, the relievers tossed 3.2 innings of one-hit baseball with Tanner Houck recording his sixth save of the year.
