3 Stars of the game: Game 10
The Boston Red Sox went to their first extra inning game this season, and ended up defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in a classic pitchers duel. Both starting pitchers were outstanding going 6, Price and 7, Lester each giving up only 1 run. The real drama didn't start till late, the 9th and 10th innings where the game seemed like it would be lost but then was won on an infield single. Here are your three stars of the game.
Star 3: Shane Victorino
Victorino stepped up to the plate with a runner on 1st base and 1 out in the 10th inning. After a stolen base, and a throwing error Jacoby Ellsbury was standing on third, only 90 from winning the game. Tampa brought in an extra infielder but Victorino was still able to make contact and hustle out an infield single as Ellsbury came sprinting across the plate to win the game. Victorino went 2-5 today with the game winning RBI.
Star 2: Jon Lester
Lester continued his early season dominance of the oppositions hitters. While Lester was looking for win number 3 in his third start of the season he did not get the run support needed. He pitched 7 innings giving up 5 hits and only 1 run. He struck out 5, walked 1 and 63 of his 100 pitches were strikes.
Star 1: Koji Uehara
In what looked to be troubling waters for the Uehara he stepped up and cleaned up the mess left by Hanrahan. Hanrahan was pulled after walking the 2 batters faced without getting an out. Uehara then got Loney to strike out, Escobar to fly out to right field and then got Roberts to pop out to second base to get out of the jam. If Uehara doesn't perform this well the sox lose and we are looking at a 5-5 record, instead we are looking at a 6-4 record and another game against Tampa tomorrow.
