The Cole Hamels coming to Boston rumors are back, and this time with a new name involved: Manuel Margot, according to Rant Sports. Margot is the 72nd-ranked prospect, according to Baseball America, has been tearing it up in the lower levels of the Sox farm system. Last season, he hit .293 with 12 home runs and 42 steals between Greenville and Salem, VA. This season? More of the same - he's been hitting .289, a homer and 11 steals so far. Not to mention only 3 strikeouts.

According to Rant Sports, the Philadelphia Phillies wanted Blake Swihart in return, but with him making his major league debut, that looks unlikely. A package including Margot and a Sox pitching prospect, namely Henry Owens or Eduardo Rodriguez, seems a more likely deal for Hamels, should the Sox opt to go after Hamels.

Rant Sports:
If the Phillies have indeed come of the Swihart demand, the Red Sox have compromised by offering Margot. A package built around Margot and one of the Red Sox’s three highly touted pitching prospects, Henry Owens, Eduardo Rodriguez and Brian Johnson might be enough to pry Hamels from the Phillies and make the Red Sox rotation more solid.

It would be a win-win for both teams, as the Sox need some pitching help and the Phillies need an infusion of young talent. That is, if Cole Hamels can deliver once he comes here. Right now, he's 1-3 with a 4.14 ERA, and he gave up 6 runs in his last outing, so he needs to turn it around and show that he still has what it takes to perform at a solid level before the Sox consider a trade. Especially as it will involve a lot of young talent leaving.
