Rick Porcello turned in the best performance by a Red Sox starter so far this year, and the offense provided two home runs as Boston beat Oakland 5-1 Tuesday night at Fenway Park.
Mookie Betts homered in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead and Sandy Leon doubled the lead with an RBI single an inning later.
Mitch Moreland made it 4-0 in the fourth with his eighth home run of the year, scoring Michael Chavis, and Rafael Devers finished the scoring with a fifth-inning double that plated J.D. Martinez.
Porcello (pictured) was nothing short of brilliant allowing just two hits over his eight innings of shutout baseball. He struck out eight and walked just two.
Oakland's lone run came in the ninth on a home run off reliever Tyler Thornburg.
