Three Red Sox errors led to two unearned Houston runs as the Astros held on for a 4-3 win over Boston Friday night.
Chris Sale took the loss going six innings as his record fell to 1-6. He only allowed three hits while striking out five and walking two.
Xander Bogaerts committed two of the defensive gaffes, doubling his total for the season.
Boston fell behind 4-0 on solo runs in the second and third innings, and two more in the fourth before attempting to rally.
All three Red Sox runs came on solo home runs - Bogaerts in the sixth, Jackie Bradley Jr. in the eighth and Christian Vazquez in the ninth.
JBJ and Steve Pearce extended their respective hitting streaks to five games in the loss. Andrew Benintendi went hitless in four at bats to end his five-game hitting streak.
