No manager, but at least we have Truck Day

While the chaos of the off season continues - no manager, probably no Mookie Betts, MLB still investigating the organization for possible sign-stealing violations during the 2018 season - it's somewhat comforting to know that at least one sign of spring has arrived.

Happy Truck Day!

Tempered a bit by the lack of a deep playoff run by the Patriots and the uncertainty mentioned above, the departure of the Red Sox equipment truck from Fenway Park to Fort Myers is usually a cause for at least a minor celebration.

Among the items making the trek -
  • 20,400 baseballs
  • 1,100 bats
  • 200 batting gloves
  • 200 batting helmets
  • 320 BP tops
  • 160 jerseys
  • 300 pairs of pants
  • 400 t-shirts
  • 400 pairs of socks
  • 20 cases of bubble gum
  • 60 cases of sunflower seeds

This year, though, the fans' responses to the team's Twitter feed was a constant reminder of what WASN'T included - right down to free agent Brock Holt's son Griff who has become something of a cult figure thanks to his appearance in dad's videos on social media.

Pitchers and catchers report next week and hopefully by then, there will be some clarity on Mookie, the manager, and yes, Griffin Holt.
