Designated hitter J.D. Martinez ripped a pair of doubles and drove in three runs, and Nathan Eovaldi tossed six strong innings as the Red Sox pounded the Orioles 13-2 Friday night at Fenway Park.
Martinez's two-baggers were part of a 17-hit assault on four Orioles pitchers.
Kevin Pillar and Jackie Bradley Jr. each had three hits but perhaps the biggest offensive surprise came from newcomer Jose Peraza who led Boston with four hits, including a pair of doubles.
Eovaldi (pictured) lit up the Fenway radar gun early, hitting 100 MPH on his very first pitch of the game. He allowed just one run on five hits while striking out four and walking just one.
