As the Red Sox are about to start a mid-July four-game series in the Bronx, they called up two of their top prospects from the minor leagues.

Outfield Jarred Duran (pictured) and pitcher Tanner Houck joined the team in New York on Thursday afternoon.

Duran, ranked third among Red Sox prospects, has been tearing up Triple A Worcester this season, hitting .270/.365/.561 in 219 plate appearances. Houck was with the team briefly at the end of 2020 and again earlier this season. Said to be the sixth best prospect in the organization, Houck is expected to spend the weekend in the bullpen and move into the starting rotation sometime next week.

There is no word yet on any corresponding roster adjustments with regard to these two moves.
